Care Camps Announces New Board of Directors Officers
Billings, MT – Care Camps, a national non-profit foundation that funds over 120 pediatric oncology camps across the U.S. and Canada, is pleased to announce their new slate of Board of Directors officers for 2024.
“We are grateful for the enthusiastic support and time commitment our new Board officers and current members are providing Care Camps this year,” said Gwynn Sullivan, Care Camps Executive Director. “Their varied expertise and strategic guidance will be tremendously helpful as we continue to expand our mission.”
The newly elected officers for the Board of Directors include:
Mark Lemoine, owner of the Coloma/St. Joseph KOA Holiday in Benton Harbor, Michigan, is serving as the Board Chair. Lemoine was first elected to the board in 2020, and previously served as Vice-Chair. He brings a depth of governance experience through a 24-year career in the public policy arena and service to several other community boards, including the Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Debora Hankinson, owner of the Alamosa/Great Sand Dunes KOA Journey in Alamosa, Colorado, is serving as Vice-Chair. Hankinson was first elected to the board of directors in 2023. She is a retired architect and is active in her region’s economic development initiatives, as well as collaborating with her local community to fundraise for Care Camps.
Rebecca Kirch JD, Executive Vice President of Policy and Programs with the National Patient Advocate Foundation based in Washington, DC, will continue as Secretary. She has served on the Care Camps Board of Directors since 2016. Kirch previously worked 15 years at the American Cancer Society and its advocacy affiliate, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network.
Shawn Peterson, owner of Tempest Technologies in Helena, Montana, will remain as Treasurer. He has served on the Care Camps Board of Directors since 2021. Shawn and his wife Lisa are the creators of “For the Love of Kids and Camping,” a commissioned commemorative art series that gives 100% of the proceeds to Care Camps. Tempest Technologies provides website services to Care Camps free of charge.
Tim Allen, former owner of the Sweetwater/I-75 KOA Holiday in Sweetwater, Tennessee, is serving as At-Large Officer. Tim was first elected to the board of directors in 2022. He and his wife, Kathy, are long-standing advocates of Care Camps, and their son, Jake, continues their legacy hosting many local fundraisers to benefit Care Camps, as the manager at Sweetwater KOA.
