Children’s Oncology Camping Association Partnership

In 2014, Care Camps Foundation and the Children’s Oncology Camping Association (COCA) formed a strategic alliance in which Care Camps Foundation acts as a national fundraising agent and COCA oversees the quality assurance program for the specialized pediatric oncology camps we support.

Care Camps Foundation raises and stewards funds that are distributed as unrestricted support to pediatric oncology camps across the U.S. and Canada that are members of the Children’s Oncology Camping Association (COCA). In close partnership with COCA, we help ensure camps meet high standards for safety, medical oversight, and quality—so children and families can attend at no cost.

In addition to providing grant funding for COCA member camps, Care Camps Foundation supports COCA’s key initiatives, including:

  • Gold Ribbon Accreditation Program – Care Camps provides funding to support COCA’s implementation of quality assurance policies and practices for COCA members. The Gold Ribbon Accreditation Program involves a multi-year process that culminates in a final on-site accreditation visit. Care Camps specifically funds the travel costs for medical experts’ accreditation visits.
  • Professional Development and Education – Care Camps provides funding to support COCA’s Annual Conference, including the Karen McAndrews Scholarship Fund, and hosts webinars for its member camps throughout the year.

“Being a COCA Accredited camp reassures our families, volunteers, and donors that we meet the highest standards in oncology camping and remain committed to continuous improvement.”  ~ Camp Testimonial
